Happy School Support Staff Week

During this National School Support Staff Week, the Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire (FPSS-CSQ) would like to highlight how essential these people are in education, as they ensure the smooth running of our school system on a daily basis.

The president of the FPSS-CSQ, Éric Pronovost, reminds us that “our public education system would not be what it is without these workers who intervene, day after day, at all levels of our school system. This special day aims to promote the commitment of school support staff, in particular by highlighting the daily actions of these essential people.”

Take advantage of the week to show them how much you appreciate them!

Backgound of the National School Support Staff Week

Last May, delegates of the Conseil Fédéral of the Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire (FPSS-CSQ) voted to transform National School Support Staff Day into National School Support Staff Week.

National School Support Staff Day was inaugurated by the FPSS-CSQ in 1999 as a way to highlight the value of school support staff. After 25 years, this transformation from one day to one week will give school support staff even greater visibility.

History of National Day to a National Week

Moving from a National Day to a National Week will make deeper reflection possible, giving us the opportunity to organize more activities to involve and reach out to a greater number of people.

This year, the Week will take place from September 22 to 28, 2024. In the future, it will always be held during the last full week of September.

• September 21 to 27, 2025
• September 20 to 26, 2026

World Education Support Personnel Day

The World Education Support Personnel Day which was initiated by Education International.  Educational International, however, includes school support staff, higher education support staff and professionals, because in many countries education staff is divided into two groups: teaching and non-teaching staff.  In Quebec, we have separate definitions for support staff and professional staff. We will celebrate the next World Education Support Personnel Day on May 16, 2025.
