Research on student violence towards daycare educators
14 February 2024
The researcher Marie-Ève Pelletier, a Professor at the Université Laval’s educational sciences department, is doing a study aimed at documenting the different sorts of violence experienced by Day Care Service Educator (DCSE).
Violence experienced by DCSE is poorly documented with little research or study undertaken on the issue.
Here are the requirements for participating in the study:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have worked in a public elementary school daycare for at least one year.
- Must have experienced at least one instance of physical violence from a student in the course of your work;
- You must be available to take part in a one-on-one interview lasting approximately two hours (the interview will focus on your experience of violence, how the organization of your work influences situations of physical violence perpetrated by students against school-age children daycare workers in Quebec, and the effects on your mental health).
The research team received more than 500 requests from people interested in participating in this study. Due to time and resource requirements, they will only be able to select around fifty. Ms. Pelletier would like to sincerely thank you for your collaboration.
