The Caretaker, class II or Caretaker, class I assigned to a school (building) equipped with a steam heating system governed by the Loi sur les mécaniciens de machines fixes (RLRQ, chapter M-6) is entitled, in more than the salary rate provided for his class of employment, to a weekly bonus, provided that he or she is responsible for the operation and supervision of this system and that he or she has the competency certificate necessary. The amount of this premium is :

This bonus is considered or paid only if the inconvenience is suffered.

For a full-time employee working a stable night shift, the service center and the union may agree to convert all or part of the premium provided for above into leave without loss of salary, provided that this conversion does not entail any additional cost.

For the purposes of applying the preceding paragraph, the method of converting the night premium into days of paid leave is as follows:

  • eleven percent (11%) equals twenty-two point six (22.6) days;
  • twelve percent (12%) equals twenty-four (24) days;
  • fourteen percent (14%) equals twenty-eight (28) days.
