The FPSS-CSQ announces an agreement in principle for its Kativik School Board members

The Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire (FPSS-CSQ) announces that it has reached an agreement in principle with the Comité patronal de négociation (CPN) for the school support staff working in the Kativik School Board.

“The agreement comes nine months after the agreements we reached for our members working in southern Quebec.  It was about time the government got serious about negotiating with us!,” says FPSS-CSQ President Eric Pronovost. “In exactly thirteen days, our members in the North will have been without a contract for two years,” he recalls in the same breath.

The agreement reached on March 18, 2022, is for the renewal of the S9 collective agreement until March 31, 2023.

“Fortunately, despite the very long negotiations, historic gains are being made for our members with this agreement.  Especially since over 80% of the support staff working in this school board are indigenous to the North.  It’s about time the government recognized their work and what they contribute,” emphasized Pronovost.

Negotiations are still ongoing for the members of the Cree School Board, however.

Highlights of the agreement

  • An annual premium will now be paid to all school support staff working in the North.
  • A housing subsidy will be offered to all school support staff hired locally in Nunavik.

Food transportation will now be paid for all members
