International Women’s Day

8 March 2021

International Women’s Day is always a very special day for me.  It is an opportunity for me to highlight the significance of the women in my life who share in this celebration.  Obviously, I am referring to my wife, my daughter and my relatives.

But I am also referring to all those women with whom I have had the good fortune to meet professionally.  Throughout my career, I have had the chance to meet women who are as strong as they are inspiring, with immense skills and a sense of duty.  All in their own way have helped to make the Quebec education system what we know it to be today: a place where it is possible to believe that the future of our nation is bright.  These women achieve the impossible with the scarce resources at their disposal, and more than ever they are keeping our schools going strong.

For the last 10 years I have been privileged to be the president of the FPSS-CSQ, a federation in which women represent 75% of its members.  This day is an opportunity for me to thank you and assure you that it is an honor to represent you and advocate for your professional rights.
