Message from the president of the CSQ for support staff

27 March 2020

To all CSQ support personnel members,

The health emergency crisis Québec and the entire world are currently facing is unprecedented and has been playing havoc on everyone’s personal and professional lives. For nearly two weeks now, you, members of the support personnel, have been asked to work in exceptional and very trying circumstances. You are being asked to carry on in the face of adversity.

On behalf of the Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ) and the entire population of Québec, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the essential work you are doing, in the field, in your work environments. Thanks to your valuable contribution, maintaining essential health services to actively fight against this very serious ongoing pandemic is possible.

The Québec people are deeply indebted to you for the vital services you are providing throughout this crisis. Well aware of the critical need for recognition you so rightfully deserve, let me say that CSQ General Negotiation Council delegates have given CSQ representatives the mandate to negotiate premiums with the government of Québec for the work you accomplish during this crisis. We believe it is essential for you to be able to count on compensation equal to your commitment to ensure effective engagement in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The coming weeks will be critical for the preservation of human lives and, as such, I firmly believe that we will be able to continue to benefit from your unwavering commitment. I assure you that you can count on the CSQ to defend your rights and to support you in receiving fair recognition for your contribution.

In solidarity,

Sonia Ethier, President
Centrale des syndicats du Québec
