The Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire calls for clear measures

Following the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in an elementary school in Sherbrooke, the Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire (FPSS-CSQ) is asking the government to clarify as quickly as possible the rules to be applied to prevent contagion in an emergency daycare.

“It is urgent that the government dictate uniform and compulsory measures to school boards,” says FPSS-CSQ President Éric Pronovost. “At the moment, each school board is using their own best judgment, but this is no longer good enough.  The government must immediately establish standard disinfection measures, limit the ratio of students per educator, provide premises large enough to meet the required social distancing measures, and most importantly, provide the equipment support staff need to protect themselves and stay healthy.  This is literally a matter of life and death,” he says.
